چکیده

Dr. José Roberto Lopes Ferraz-Filho Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima 5544 15090-000 São José do Rio Preto SP Brasil. E-mail: [email protected] Meningiomas are tumors of benign histological nature which represent 13 to 26% of all primary intracranial neoplasia. Approximately 20% of intracranial meningiomas present extracranial dissemination at sites such as the orbit, middle ear, nasal cavity, nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses. Primary extracranial meningiomas are histologically identical to intracranial meningiomas. They usually occur in 40 to 60-year-old patients and are rare in the pediatric age group. Primary extracranial meningiomas represent 1 to 2% of all meningiomas. We to report the case of a 13-year-old girl with a primary extracranial meningioma of the ethmoid sinus, including the main findings of the imaging examination and a brief review of the literature.

Secondary extracranial meningiomas extending into the paranasal sinuses.

Meningiomas are well-recognized tumors of the central nervous system. Extracranial meningiomas, secondarily extended into the paranasal sinuses, are rare tumors, comprising approximately 2% of all meningiomas. Extracranial meningiomas of the paranasal sinuses may present a diagnostic and the rapeutic challenge. We present a retrospective review comprising three cases and discuss the clinical pr...

The patient underwent surgical excision, plastic surgic...

Primary sphenoid sinus meningioma resection via transnasal transsphenoid approach: a case report.

Meningiomas are slow-growing benign lesions that constitute ∼ 25% of primary intracranial tumours. Extracranial meningioma of the sphenoid sinus is extremely rare and may arise from ectopic arachnoid nests left behind during embryonic development. We present the case of a 61-year-old woman with left oculomotor nerve paralysis. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a 43 × 31 × 33 mm mass in ...

[Primary ectopic meningioma in the left ethmoid sinus--a case report (author's transl)].

A 29-year-old female with primary ectopic meningioma in the right ethmoid sinus was reported. She was treated by a right lateral rhinotomy with total removal of the tumor and the subsequent clinical course was good. Contrast enhanced magnetic resonance image (MRI) was most informative to define the tumor and decide the surgical procedure, in which it was demonstrated as well circumscribed mass ...
